CSX market capitalisation rises to $3.1B as index rebounds
Synopsis: Increased trading activity and a sharp June rebound lift both the CSX Index and market capitalisation well past May levels, driving a stronger overall performance for the market in Q2.
The securities market rebounded in June, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) Index climbing to 455.8 and total market capitalisation rising to 12,505 billion riels, equivalent to $3.1 billion, according to the Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC) latest data.
The figures were reported in SERC’s ‘Securities Market Statistics Report–Quarter 2 2026’, released yesterday, showing a recovery in the equity market after a weaker performance in May.
The CSX Index closed June at 455.8, up from 431.91 at the end of May and the quarter’s low of 423.48 recorded earlier that month. The index opened June at 432.58 and reached its quarterly high of 455.8 at the end of the month. The closing level was also the highest recorded during June.
Market capitalisation increased to 12,505 billion riels ($3.106 billion) at the end of June, compared with 11,862 billion riels in May and 11,920 billion riels in April.
The main board accounted for the bulk of the market, with a capitalisation of 12,224 billion riels ($3.036 billion), while the growth board stood at 280.14 billion riels ($69.58 million).
Trading activity also strengthened during the quarter. Total equity trading value reached 63.02 billion riels ($15.65 million), with June accounting for 25.49 billion riels, the highest monthly trading value recorded during the three months.
Trading volume reached 12.23 million shares during the quarter, including 4.91 million shares traded in June. Average daily trading volume on the main board stood at around 195,907 shares.
The market had 12 listed equity entities at the end of June, comprising nine entities on the main board and three on the growth board. No new equity listings or fundraising activities were recorded during the second quarter.
Cumulative funds raised through equity offerings since 2012 remained at 540.21 billion riels ($134.81 million). The quarter recorded 58 trading days, with June accounting for the strongest monthly trading value despite having fewer trading days than the full quarter.
The rise in market capitalisation also reflected the recovery in share prices during June, as the CSX Index moved higher from its May closing level. The improvement came as trading activity picked up, with both trading value and volume increasing during the month.
The equity market remained the dominant segment of Cambodia’s securities market by market capitalisation, while other segments, including bonds and derivatives, continued to contribute to overall market activity.
SERC’s second-quarter figures showed that Cambodia’s securities market maintained its listed equity base during the period, while the June rebound provided a stronger finish to the quarter following the market’s softer performance in May.
The June recovery lifted the CSX Index and market capitalisation from their May levels, while stronger trading activity during the month also contributed to improved overall market performance in Q2 this year.
