42 Chinese companies plan to explore investment opportunities in Kampong Speu
More than 42 Chinese companies from various industries have expressed interest in investing in Kampong Speu province, with plans to explore investment opportunities and potentially establish or expand operations in the province, according to Kampong Speu Governor Cheam Chan Sophorn.
The governor made the remarks today after leading a Kampong Speu provincial delegation in a meeting with representatives of 42 Chinese companies and enterprises in Nanning, China.
Sophorn said the delegation presented Kampong Speu’s diverse investment potential and highlighted the large number of investors already operating in the province.
Representatives of the 42 companies expressed interest in visiting Kampong Speu to explore investment opportunities and said they planned to conduct study visits and consider investing in the province in the near future, he said.
According to the governor, the companies interested in investing in Kampong Speu cover nine major sectors: agriculture and agro-processing; industry and manufacturing; construction and construction materials; tourism and culture; investment and trade; technology and digital services; mining; logistics and transportation; and new energy and the environment.
Sophorn noted that some of the companies interested in the province are existing investors seeking to expand their operations, while others are potential new investors planning to establish factories in Kampong Speu.

To support potential investment from Chinese businesses, the provincial administration is committed to creating a welcoming investment environment, he said.
The administration will arrange appropriate hospitality for investors while ensuring security, public order and coordination of relevant procedures to facilitate their investment activities, according to the governor.
Kampong Speu already has a strong industrial presence, with nearly 3,000 factories and enterprises operating in the province and employing more than 400,000 workers, he said.
The figure does not include people working on livestock farms and agricultural plantations across the province.
The growing number of factories and enterprises has also been absorbing a significant workforce from surrounding provinces, contributing to further strengthening the regional economy, the governor said.
Kampong Speu is expected to become an important destination for industrial and manufacturing projects in Cambodia.
If the proposed investments materialise, they are expected to create tens of thousands of additional employment opportunities and further strengthen Kampong Speu’s position as an important economic centre in Cambodia.
